88. John 8:37-38 – Spiritual Fatherhood
Spiritual Fatherhood
John 8:37–38
“I know that you are Abraham’s descendants, yet you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you… I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen from your father.”
Jesus acknowledges their background but points to a problem deeper than bloodline or tradition. God’s word has no room inside — the heart is occupied by another voice.
When truth is not accepted, it becomes irritating. Rejecting the word slowly turns into hostility toward the One who speaks it.
Jesus reveals a principle:
— He speaks what He hears from the Father
— They do what they learned from another source
A true spiritual father is revealed not by words, but by fruit.
The Father of truth calls to repentance and a changed life.
The father of lies comforts: “You’re already great. Live however you want.”
The question is not who you claim to be.
The question is whose word shapes your decisions.
Which father will you choose?
